60 Valentines

“Happy Valentine’s Day!” I say to my grandma. I give her a big hug.

A wooden box is on the table next to Grandma’s wheelchair.

“What’s in the box?” I ask.

Grandma lifts the lid. Inside the box is a stack of Valentine’s Day cards. Some are homemade. Some are from the store. Some look really old.

“These are my Valentines from your Grandpa,” Grandma says.

Grandma shows me the card Grandpa gave her last year. It has a picture of a man and a woman kissing. I think about Grandpa kissing Grandma.

It makes me giggle. Kisses! Yuck!
