Alice Throws a Strike

Alice wanted to play softball. Tryouts were in one week.

She wanted to be a pitcher. But she wasn’t very good.

Sometimes she threw the ball too high. Other times she threw the ball too wide.

“I will never make the team,” Alice said.

“It’s okay Alice,” Dad said. “You just need to practice. I will help you.”

After school, Dad and Alice went to the park.

“Okay, show me what you’ve got!” Dad said.

Alice wound up. She threw the ball as hard as she could.

The ball went far to the right.
