Big Toe Stew

It was a cloudy day in a small town.

Old Mrs. Li was in her garden picking vegetables. She was going to make a stew.

As she pulled a carrot from the ground, she saw something big and round. It was a big, hairy toe!

She said, “This big toe will give my stew so much flavor!”

She put the toe into her basket. Then she went into her kitchen.

She filled a big black pot with water. She threw in carrots, string beans, onions, and of course, the big hairy toe!

The stew boiled for hours. When it was ready, she poured herself a bowl. She took a bite.

“This is the best stew I have ever made,” Mrs. Li said.
