Layla's First Day

Layla could not sleep. She was sad. Tomorrow was her first day at a new school.

Layla missed her old teacher. She missed her old playground. She missed her old friends.

In the morning, Layla dressed for school. Daddy could tell that Layla was sad.

“Give it time,” Daddy said. “You will like your new teacher. You will like the new playground. You will make new friends.”

On the way to school, kids laughed on the bus. They passed notes and told jokes. Layla sat alone. She did not feel like having fun today.

Layla still missed her teacher. She missed her playground. She missed her friends.
