The Best Gift Ever

“The town is all decorated for Christmas!” Mary Bunny said to her best friend, Luis Pooch. “Let’s go see!”

“I’m sorry, Mary, but I can’t,” Luis said.

“Why not?” Mary asked. “Don’t you want to see the trees covered in tinsel and lights?”

Luis was very excited. But he didn’t want Mary to know that he was on his way into town to find her a Christmas gift.

“I’m sorry,” he said. “How about tomorrow?”

“OK,” said Mary. “We’ll go tomorrow.”

At Tony Turtle’s clothing store, Luis saw a pretty dress. But Luis didn’t know what size dress Mary wore.

Miss Squirrel’s shop sold earrings, but Luis knew that Mary did not have pierced ears.

Luis was getting nervous. Finding the perfect gift was harder than he thought.
