The Elephant and the Bees

Long ago all animals lived by a tropical lake.

The first elephant lived next door to the first giraffe.

The first horse lived next door to the first snake.

The elephant was larger than the other animals. He was quite proud.

He had thick grey skin, big floppy ears, and a short little nose.

Then one dry summer day a great fire raged across the woods.

The large elephant ran as fast as he could away from the fire.

The elephant ran past a swarm of bees. They were very scared.

“Help us!” they buzzed.
