The Great Drum

Lion wanted to have a party. He was very excited.

He sent out a message to all his friends in Africa.

The message traveled far and wide. It went to Elephant, Giraffe, Rhinoceros, Cheetah, and even Monkey.

It took three weeks to reach all of Lion’s friends.

Then it took three more weeks for everyone to get to Lion’s house.

Lion was very disappointed. “We need to find a faster way to send a message,” he said.

Anansi, the spider, spoke first. “We need a Great Drum,” he said. “When we hear the drum, we will all know to come quickly.”

“We will work together to build the drum,” Elephant said. Everyone agreed.
