The Tortoise and the Hare

Once upon a time there were two friends, Tortoise and Hare.

The two friends were very different.

Hare was fast. He loved to run. No one could beat him.

Tortoise was slow. He did not run anywhere. He took his time doing everything.

One day, Hare said to Tortoise, “You are so slow!”

“I am not slow,” said Tortoise. “I am careful.”

Hare laughed. He teased Tortoise for being slow.

Hare made Tortoise mad. “I bet I could beat you in a race,” Tortoise said.

Hare laughed and laughed. “Okay I will race you,” Hare said.
