Toot the Bird

There was once a little bird named Arnie.

Arnie could not tweet like the other birds. He tried, but no sound came from his beak. Instead the sound came from his bottom.

“Toot!”

One day, Arnie sat in his nest. He heard the other birds sing. He wished he could sing too.

Arnie only tooted. “Toot!”

Two birds sat on a branch above Arnie. “Pee-yew,” one bird said. “What is that smell?”

“Arnie tooted!” said the other. “Gross!”

“You should be called Toot!” laughed the birds.

Arnie was sad.

When he flew, he tooted. When he walked, he tooted.

Soon, all the birds called him Toot. No one wanted to play with Toot the Bird.
