Krishna the Butter Thief

Long ago, there lived a little boy named Krishna. He watched over the cows and did lots of other chores.

He liked to have fun, too. But sometimes having fun got him into trouble.

On his fifth birthday, Krishna’s mother, Yashoda, asked him to do a chore.

“Hurry and fetch the runaway calf,” she told him.

Krishna went out to the fields to find the calf. He spotted her right away and ran over to grab her.

The calf was too fast. She jumped right through his arms.
