The Sparrow's Promise

There once was a young sparrow who lived in the desert.

He liked to fly through the sunny skies and zoom between the clouds.

One day, the little bird swooped very low. He almost touched the ground with his wing.

“Oh, what fun!” he thought.

The little bird flew faster and faster. He weaved in and out of the cactuses.

Then he flew straight up, higher and higher into the air.

After he flew as high as he could, he zoomed straight down. He loved the feel of the wind rushing against his feathers.

The sparrow streaked toward the ground. At the last second he turned up.

But, his wing touched a sharp spine on a cactus! He tumbled to the ground.

His wing was bleeding.
