Tweety Pete

There was once a boy named Pete.

When it came to climbing trees, he could climb higher than all the other children.

When it came to running races, he could run faster than all the other children.

And when it came to his voice, Pete’s voice was squeakier than the voices of all the other children.

When Pete spoke he sounded like a hungry baby bird, cheeping in its nest.

The other children would giggle and whistle and yell, “Tweet, tweet, tweet.”

One day, some boys dared Pete to climb up to the top of the town’s tallest tree.

“We bet you can’t do it before we count to ten!” they said.

Pete was sure he could. He ran to the tree and scrambled up its branches.
