Jonah and the Whale

Jonah was a special man.

He was called a prophet. That means God spoke to him.

One day, God gave Jonah a command. He told him to go to the city of Nineveh.

“The people who live there need my help,” God said. “They are doing bad things. But, in their hearts they are good.”

Jonah did not want to go. He did not like the people of Nineveh. He thought they were bad people.

“I will not help those people,” Jonah said.

Instead, Jonah got on a boat and sailed across the ocean.
