Merry Birthday, Stanley!

Stanley was so excited. Tomorrow morning was December 25, Christmas. But more importantly, it was also Stanley’s birthday.

That night, he dreamed about opening presents, playing in the snow, and eating chocolate cake.

“Wake up, Stanley!” his sister said the next morning. “It’s Christmas! Merry Christmas!”

“Merry Christmas!” Stanley yawned. “Hey, don’t forget it’s my birthday too!”

But his sister didn’t hear him. She was already out the door.

Stanley went downstairs. “Maybe I can have birthday cake for breakfast,” he said.

But his parents had made blueberry pancakes.

“Merry Christmas, everyone!” Mom said.

“Maybe they’re saving my birthday cake for later,” Stanley thought.

After breakfast, Stanley and his sister opened gifts. Candy canes and colorful lights hung from the Christmas tree.

Stanley got lots of presents. But no one had even mentioned Stanley’s birthday.
