Michelle is Moving

It was moving day. Mama and Papa had talked about this day for a very long time.

“Our new house is nice and big,” said Papa.

“You will love it,” said Mama.

Michelle was not sure. She loved living in the city. She had lived in the city her whole life.

Michelle’s grandmother, Mamie, took her for one last walk before they moved.

They went to the park. They fed the birds at the fountain. They said goodbye to Michelle’s friends at the playground.

Mamie bought Michelle ice cream. They sat on a bench outside their apartment and ate it.

Michelle watched the men load the moving truck. They were lifting furniture— her furniture— and lots of big, brown boxes.
