Thanksgiving Lesson

I love Thanksgiving.

Every year, we have a big turkey dinner at my house. My grandparents make mashed potatoes. Dad makes stuffing and Aunt Katie makes pudding.

The best part is playing cards with my cousin Alex. It is so much fun!

But this year, Mom and Dad are ruining Thanksgiving.

“Some people can’t afford a Thanksgiving dinner,” Mom says. “So we are going to the Community Center to serve free dinners.”

This is not cool at all. Why should I have to work on my favorite holiday?

On Thanksgiving Day, we wake up early and drive to the center. Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Katie, and Alex are there, too.

They all look really happy, but I am not happy.

“This is going to be lame,” I think.
