The Brahmin and the Tricksters

A Brahmin performed a wedding in a small village. He was given a goat as payment. The Brahmin put a leash on the goat and picked up his walking stick. He was going home.

“Be careful!” the villagers warned him. “Thieves in the jungle might try to rob you!”

“Don't be silly!” the Brahmin replied. “I’m a holy man. No one would try to rob me!”

The Brahmin waved goodbye to the villagers. He walked through the jungle, his walking stick tap-tap-tapping on the path.

It was not very long before a stranger came out from the trees and stopped in front of the Brahmin. He bent down and petted the goat. “What a cute doggy you have,” he said.

“What are you talking about?” the Brahmin asked. “This isn’t a dog, it’s a goat.”
