Amy's First Holi

Amy raced down the stairs. This was her third day in Mumbai, India. She wanted to visit the famous markets.

On her way out, the hotel owner called to her. “Miss Amy,” he said, “your clothes will get very messy! Today is a special holiday…”

But Amy didn’t hear him.

It was still early and the streets were quiet. Amy had never seen streets so empty. Where was everyone?

She hoped that the market would be open.

Amy passed a teashop. She stopped for a cup of chai tea and a sweet bun.

She saw that everyone in the shop was wearing white.

“What is going on today?” Amy asked.
