Marshal and Billy the Kid

Marshal is excited. This is his first trip to a real ranch!

He will get to ride a real horse! He will get to be a real cowboy!

“Just like Billy the Kid!” Marshal says.

Marshal gets to the ranch. The other kids are there. They look like real cowboys.

They have brand new cowboy hats. Marshal is wearing a straw hat. It’s old, and it has a hole.

The other kids know how to tie a cowboy rope. Marshal’s rope ends up in knots.

The other kids race around on their horses. Just like real cowboys! Marshal does not know how to ride a horse.
