Phil’s Big Day

Today is Groundhog Day. A crowd gathers near Phil’s underground home.

“Phil! Phil! Phil!” the crowd chants.

Phil Jr. lives in the burrow with his grandpa, Phil Sr. They are groundhogs.

Grandpa puts on a top hat. He peeks outside. Everyone is waiting for him.

“It’s time,” says Grandpa.

Grandpa walks outside. He tips his hat to the crowd. They cheer!

“He didn’t see his shadow!” a man yells. “Hooray! Spring will come early!”

Grandpa takes a bow. He goes back to the burrow.
