The Gingerbread Boy

Once upon a time, a little old man and a little old woman lived in a little old house on the edge of the woods.

One day, the little old woman decided to bake a gingerbread cookie. She made her dough into the shape of a boy. Then she popped it into the oven.

After a bit, it was time to take the cookie out of the oven.

But as soon as the old woman opened the oven door, the little gingerbread boy jumped out! He raced out the front door and into the garden.

The little old woman and the little old man ran after the little gingerbread boy.

They ran as fast as they could but they could not catch the gingerbread boy.

Soon the gingerbread boy came to a cow in a field.

He called out as he passed:
“I’ve run away from a little old woman
and a little old man
and I can run away from you, I can, I can!”
