The Prince and the Pauper

Prince Edward was rich. He spent his days going to fancy dinners and dance lessons. He had everything a kid could want. But he was bored.

He wanted adventure.

Tom the Pauper was very poor.

He only ate what he could find in the street. He had no money. He was tired and hungry all day long.

He wanted to live like a prince.

One day, the Prince snuck out of the castle. He wanted to explore the city.

He ran into Tom the Pauper in an alley. The two stared at each other.

“You look just like me!” Tom said.

“I have an idea,” the Prince said. “You put on my robe. And I’ll put on your shirt.”

They switched clothes.

“You can be a rich prince,” Edward said. “And I’ll pretend I’m you. I’ll go on adventures in the city!”
