Cupid's Royal Mission

Cupid flew swiftly
over high castle walls,
looking for the princess
who walked within its halls.

Suitors had been coming
to request her royal hand.
They had riches, jewels, and trophies
and came from many lands.

But Cupid knew the suitors
and saw they were all wrong.
The princess had a better match;
he’d been there all along.

He wasn't a rich or famous prince,
just a simple stable boy.
If the two could meet each other,
they would be full of joy.

The stable hand walked toward the barn
to give the horses hay.
Cupid circled anxiously
as the girl went the same way.

Cupid knew he must work fast
to use his arrows tipped with magic.
If he missed this chance for true love,
It would be oh so tragic.
