The Legend of Navratri

Mahishasura was a powerful demon. He had defeated many other gods. He was now the ruler of the world!

“No one can beat me,” he roared.

The god Brahma knew he had to do something.

Brahma went to see the other mighty gods, Shiva and Vishnu.

“Have you heard about Mahishasura?” Brahma asked them. “He’s been destroying everything! We have to do something!”

“We need someone powerful enough to fight this demon!” Shiva said.

The three gods were angry. Fire burned from their eyes.

The fire formed a great mountain.

A new goddess, Durga, emerged from the mountain as their champion. She had the strength of all the gods combined.
